News Nearby: 2 Injured, One Shot Dead Near West Lake and Joseph E. Boone (Simpson)

A club owner was shot dead Monday afternoon in NW Atlanta.

One Man is dead and two injured after multiple shots were fired on the corner of Joseph E. Boone and Lanier Street, near West Lake Avenue on Monday afternoon.

According to early witness reports to the AJC, "(a father and son) were trying to help the man when they were ambushed by two gunmen."

The man who died was described as the club owner of the building that the father and son were helping to renovate (Club DejaVu).  According to the two surviving victims, they were jump-starting a car battery when two men appeared and started shooting.

Mr. McGee and his son survived by jumping "over a 15-foot wall to avoid being shot," says the AJC.

WSB reports that, "The nightclub owner died from his injuries and another man was shot in the back. McGee's son broke his leg jumping off over a wall trying to get away."

Police say that this incident looks like an ambush and that robbery may have been the motive.  Authorities would like the help of anyone in the area that saw something or anyone who may have knowledge of the individuals who are involved.
