News Nearby: Child Struck and Killed While Crossing Old National Highway

The attached video report from WSB-TV tries to piece together the tragic accident last night that left a 6 year-old boy dead after just receiving a new haircut from the barber shop on Sunday evening.

According to WSB, the police said that, "the boy had just left a barber shop on Old National Highway with his older brother around 6:50 p.m. when he darted across traffic outside of a crosswalk."

The younger boy was accompanied by his 6 year-old brother and witnesses say that the 2 made it to the center lane, but out of no where the younger child tried to dart across the remaining lanes and was hit by an SUV.

The driver of the SUV was not charged and was not found to be speeding.  The 6 year-old has been identified as Christopher Cook Jr.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Christopher and his family after this tragic accident.
