NPU Partnerships Are Reducing Crime, Police Say

APD officials spoke to Thursday night's NPU-T meeting.


Partnerships between and the Atlanta Police Department are reducing crime in the area, according to a area zone commander who spoke to the organization on Thursday night.

"The reduction in crime in this community is due, in large part, to your organization being diligent and alerting our department to areas of concern," said , commander of zone 4, which encompasses most of Cascade. "That's what it takes. It pays dividends.

"And I get more e-mails from this NPU than any other."

Bryant said the number of auto thefts and burglaries have declined, but robberies are an area of concern to the department.

"Many of these incidents occur around the Hamilton E. Holmes MARTA station during the odd hours of the night, between 10 pm and 2 am," Bryant said.

Bryant also said officers removed a peddler selling videos and other items from the location.

"We know he was selling videos from his vehicle, and possibly some other items," Bryant said.

Bryant also said zone 4 . "What (Police Chief George Turner) is doing in southwest Atlanta is great."
