Overnight Shooting on White Street in the West End Kills 20 Year Old

Police: Two friends arguing leads to one dead on White Street.

THe spokesperson for the Atlanta Police Department has confirmed that a 20 year old male is dead following a verbal altercation and shooting Monday morning on White Street in the West End.

According to Officer Jones, "on August 5, 2013, at approximately 1:35 am, Zone Four units responded to a person shot call, at 1299-A White Street SW, Atlanta, Georgia."  Officer Jones told Cascade Patch that, "upon their arrival, a black male was found lying on the kitchen floor, suffering from an apparent gunshot to his chest."

WSB-TV is reporting that their reporters were able to talk to the father of the victim, who identified the 20 year-old as Joshua Jackson and said he was a longtime friend of the suspected shooter.

"According to witnesses," says Officer Jones, "the victim and the suspected shooter, Kenneth Harrison, had engaged in a verbal discord earlier in the day, but the matter seemed to have de-escalated prior to Harrison shooting the victim."

The suspect was seen fleeing the scene on foot after he shot the victim. According to Grady, the victim was pronounced dead on the scene.

The victim was to celebrate in 21st birthday in the coming days, as well serve as the best man in his brother's wedding before this tragedy struck.

Though the police seem to have a good idea of who the shooter is in this case, they still have not released information on whether he is custody or not.  Stay with Cascade Patch for more on this developing story.
