Police Blotter: Fatal Wreck, Escaped Suspect, and more

Monday, June 25th was a busy day for police.

Southwest Atlanta police officers had a busy day Monday while dealing with a number of incidents.

1) WSB has reported that a suspect that led Dekalb Police officers on a high-speed chase down I-20, somehow made a U-turn onto the highway going the wrong way and crashed his stolen vehicle into oncoming traffic.  In the report, WSB says, "the chase continued on foot near a YMCA in the Cascade Road area.  They believe the suspect is armed and he's also wanted on a felony warrant."

2) A fatal accident took place on Ralph D. Abernathy Blvd. in the early evening, Monday.  The APD police report states that Mr. Vickers was driving down Ralph Abernathy when he swerved to miss a stopped car ahead of him.  He swerved into oncoming traffic.  "The victim, Sharion Thomas, B/F, 46 years of age, was driving her 1994 Honda Accord west on Ralph D. Abernathy when she collided with Mr. Vickers. The victim was entrapped in her vehicle and had to be extricated by the Atlanta Fire Department. "  Unfortunately, the victim succumbed to her injuries. Mr. Vickers was cited for Failure to Maintain Lane and Homicide by Vehicle.

3) after being found lying in the street with a gunshot would to the head, near Fulton Industrial and Old Gordon Rd.
