Dunkin, who was from Clayton County just south of the Cascade Patch area, was shot Friday night at shot at a music studio on Memorial Drive, according to local news reports.

Police on Saturday were continuing an investigation into the fatal shooting of Rapper Slim Dunkin, 24, in a southeast Atlanta music studio Friday and the reason for the slaying remain a mystery, according to an Atlanta Journal-Constitution story Saturday afternoon.

Police Major Keith Meadows told the AJC Saturday that there have been no arrests in the shooting.

“We’re still talking to people,” Meadows said. “The truth is we don’t know exactly what happened.”

Dunkin, whose real name is Mario Hamilton, was about to record a music video just before he was shot late Friday, according to a story on Fox 5 Atlanta News. He was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he died, according to Fox 5 and a report on the WSBTV news website.

The incident happened in the 1000 block of Memorial Drive, according to an Atlanta Journal-Constitution story this morning. Investigators said the rapper was at the studio to shoot a music video.

“Now it’s my understanding prior to the video shoot, Mr. Hamilton became involved in a verbal altercation with another individual who we believe produced a handgun, discharged that weapon at least one time, striking Mr. Hamilton in the chest,” Atlanta police Maj. Keith Meadows told WSB and Fox 5.

Police said in the first AJC report that they do not know what the argument was about and the shooter has not been identified.

Meadows said in a Fox 5 report that 13 to 20 people were in the building when the shooting occurred around 5:30 p.m.

Dunkin is described on Facebook and YouTube as "an affiliate" of Rap star Gucci Main and the groups Brick Squad and Wacka Flocka Flame.

Police are questioning witnesses and the investigation is continuing.
