Police Searching for Man Who Attempted to Abduct Sylvan Hills Student on Way to School

12-year-old girl called 911 when man threatened to harm her if she didn't get into his car.

 

Police have released a sketch of a man they say tried to abduct a 12-year-old girl while she was walking to Sylvan Hills Middle School Thursday morning.

The man approached the girl near Sylvan Rd and Byron around 8:30 a.m., according to a police statement about the incident.

“The suspect pulled up next to the girl and told her to get into his vehicle,” police spokesman John Chafee said in the statement.  “When the girl refused, the suspect threatened to harm her.  The girl called 911 and the suspect then fled.”

The suspect is described as a black male, light complexion, with a moustache and low curly hair.  The suspect was wearing a black hoodie and had a black mark on his forehead.  The suspect was driving a silver, compact 4door vehicle, possibly with a possible Georgia license plate partial tag of BUX.
