Shooting Near Adamsville Rec Leaves 3 Children Traumatized, 1 Man Dead

Man shot and killed for $100

APD Investigators continue to canvass the scene in Allen Hills Apartments where one man was shot dead during an early morning robbery on Monday.

According to APD Public Affairs officers, police found one person dead inside an upstairs unit of the gated AND secured complex off of Martin Luther King Drive.

"On 26 January, 2014, at approximately 11:25 pm, Zone One patrol units were dispatched to 11 Allen Temple Court, the Allen Hills Apartments, where people were reported as shooting and fighting. Upon arrival, the responding units discovered an unresponsive black male lying on the living room floor of apartment #78."

Witnesses told WSB-TV that 4 masked men pushed their way into the door, once a woman answered a knock.  Witnesses told reporters that the woman gave the robbers $100 and that they took off running from the apartment.

Investigators are still unclear if the motive of the shooting was only for the robbery or if the man and his family were targeted for other reasons.

3 children were in the home at the time of the shooting.  They were physically unharmed, but it is not known if they saw the shooting or the victim.
