Shooting on MLK, Ironically, on MLK Day (Updated)

Police were on the scene of reported shooting on Martin Luther King early Monday afternoon while annual MLK Day celebration in session at Ebenezer Baptist Church

Atlanta Police were investigating a report early Monday afternoon of a man shot at 3050 Martin Luther King Jr., in the Cascade community, ironically during the 25th Anniversary of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Federal Holiday.

According to a report in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, someone called 911 saying that a man had been shot inside a store at the West Ridge Shopping Center, home to Wayfield Foods on MLK at Lynhurst Drive.

A man was then seen running toward the Allen Temple, police said.

Atlanta police spokeswoman Kimberly Jones, told the AJC in an e-mail message at 7:10 a.m. Tuesday that officers had been unable to find a victim and that no shooting victim from the location had shown up in area hospitals.

The investigation is continuing.
