Updated: Suspect Arrested in Fatal Hit & Run on Martin Luther King Drive

The man suspected of hitting and killing Cassandra Head with his vehicle has been arrested.

UPDATE:  Eric Demons made his first court appearance on Wednesday.  He was granted a $25,000 bail. His lawyers argued that the suspect is a, "father of a 5-year-old who has held down a job for two and a half years, and voluntarily called police after the incident and has no history of violence, reported Fox 5.

An arrest has been made in the hit and run accident that took the life of Cassandra Head on Feb. 20, as she used the crosswalk on Martin Luther King and Bakers Ferry Rd.

Atlanta Police confirm that they apprehended Eric Demons and are charging him with Homicide by Vehicle, Failure to Yield to Pedestrian in Crosswalk, Hit & Run, and Driving on Suspended License.  According to Officer Jones, the suspect, "was located by Fugitive Units at 580 University Avenue, Demons was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Accident Investigations Unit office for interrogation."

Eric Demons, age 40, has 2 previous Fulton County arrests in his past, including charges of Battery and Failure to Pay Child Support.

Cassandra Head leaves behind a family of 5 children and 16 grandchildren.  She was buried on Tuesday, the same day the suspect was arrested.
