Suspect sought in taxi driver armed robbery

Police seeking suspect who was dropped off near Oakland City before robbing a cab driver.

The Atlanta Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a suspect involved in an armed robbery of a taxi cab driver on Monday, Dec. 31, 2012.

According to the police, shortly after midnight, the man in question flagged down a Checker Cab outside the Georgian Terrace located at 659 Peachtree Street in Midtown. The man then asked to be taken to Morehouse College.

Upon passing the Atlanta Department of Corrections located at 254 Peachtree Street, the suspect brandished a weapon and ordered the driver to continue to the intersection of Lee Street and Tucker Ave., near Oakland City, where he robbed the driver of cash before exiting the vehicle.

The suspect is described as a black male, standing approximately 5-foot-10, with an average build.
