Suspected Buckhead Carjackers Arrested in a Home on Tarragon Way SW

U.S. Marshals arrested a man in connection with carjackings occurring in Buckhead.


The U.S. Marshals surrounded a home on Tarragon Way SW, near Adamsville, on Friday afternoon while following a lead in a recent string of Buckhead carjackings.

Buckhead Patch first reported of the rear-ending carjacking tactic in the April 22 Buckhead Crime Blotter.  Buckhead Patch also first reported the warning from police about the nature of these carjackings.

Atlanta Police's Zone 2 Commander Major Van Hobbs is warning Buckhead drivers about a new tactic carjacking suspects are using to get drivers out of their cars– rear-ending their vehicles, robbing them and speeding away in their vehicles once the victims get out to inspect potential damage.

According to Carlos Campos with the Atlanta Police Department, "Ronnie Houston, 24, was arrested today at 344 Tarragon Way SW and charged with armed robbery, hijacking a motor vehicle, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, two counts of financial transaction card theft, hit and run and driving without a license on person."

The arrests that occurred Friday also provided more info on how the original carjacking incidents occurred. 

APD described the incidents as such:

The victims told police that on May 1st around 11 p.m., they were driving a Buick Enclave through the intersection of West Wesley and Howell Mill roads when they were struck from behind. The couple stepped out of their vehicle to assess the damage, when three black males robbed them of their belongings and vehicle at gunpoint. More arrests may be forthcoming as the investigation into this incident continues.

A woman that was in the house at the time of the arrest was also taken into custordy.  It is unclear if she will be charged.
