Teen Shot in SW Atlanta after Confronting Suspected Car Thief

Responding officers found the 17-year-old face down on the porch of a house not far away from where the shooting took place.

After confronting a man he believed had stolen his aunt’s car, a teenager was shot in the right elbow, under the left arm and in the chest on Monday morning in southwest Atlanta.

According to Atlanta Police Officer Kim Jones, the incident occurred around 1:15 a.m. near the intersection of Sylvan Road and Langston Street.

Responding officers found 17-year-old Chrishawn A. Grice face down on the porch of a house not far away in the 1800 block of Bridgewater Street. According to the police report, Grice said he approached a group of four men and asked of one, “why he stole” from his family?

Grice, who was reportedly struggling to communicate with the responding officers, told police that is when the male pulled out a gun and started shooting at him.

The teenager was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where his condition is unknown at this time.
