Therrell Student Arrested After Attempting To Hide Handgun

The incident occurred Thursday afternoon.


An 11th grade student at Therrell High School was arrested Thursday afternoon after trying to hide a handgun in the men's restroom.

Two other students were also arrested for gambling.

"At approximately 2:45 pm, a school resource officer apprehended the suspects gambling at the school," said APD Public Affairs Officer K. Y. Jones.

One of the suspects told the officer he needed to use the restroom. Jones said the suspect then attempted to conceal a 9mm handgun in the urinal. 

It is unknown at this time if the gun was loaded.

The AJC is reporting that Atlanta Public Schools spokesman Keith Bromery told Channel 2 Action News there were no injuries or disruptions at the school.
