Three Men Arrested for Stealing Gas

Police respond to theft of fuel at Exxon on Joseph E.. Lowery Blvd.

Atlanta Police Zone 4 Unit responded to a call of theft of fuel at the Exxon station located at 501 Joseph E. Lowery Blvd. in Southwest Atlanta on Thursday morning.

According to Curtis Davenport, spokesman of APD Public Affairs, Gurmeet Tuteja, the store clerk, noticed a male stealing diesel fuel. The male was in a grey Chevy pickup truck with two 55 gallon barrels on the back of the truck; one red & one blue.

The suspect was able to manipulate the pump, so, it would pump fuel without the customer paying. The suspect in the Chevy pickup drove off after fueling. Next, a white tow truck pulled up to the same pumps attempting to get fuel.

The officer detained the tow truck driver, Norman Gates, 45 and the passenger Randy Beasley, 45. As the officer questioned the two, the Chevy pickup truck drove by the location with the barrels of fuel. The officer stopped the pickup truck as well.

The driver Rossini Barnwell, 46, was driving the pickup truck. Video from the store showed the suspect in the pickup truck pumping fuel when he came to the Exxon. The fuel was returned to the gas station and both vehicles were towed.

The store owner stated that he is missing approximately 220 gallons of diesel fuel.All 3 were charged with the theft of gas & transported to the Fulton Co Jail.
