Two Survive Gunshot Wounds After Thursday's Beecher Street Shooting

APD responded to 1594 Beecher Street around 8 p.m. on Thursday evening.

Cascade Patch has learned from the Atlanta Police Department that two men were shot on Thursday evening during some sort of ambush on Beecher Street.

According to the official police narrative on the shooting, around 8:16 p.m. APD responded to 1594 Beecher Street in reference to a person shot call.  Officer Kitchen says, " I encountered victim Eric Walker with a gun shoot wound to his right wrist and Christopher James Jr whom suffered three gun shoot wounds this lower back and buttocks. While on scene neither Mr. James nor Mr. Walker supplied any information in regards to who shot them. Both Mr. James and Mr. Walker appeared to be in shock while on scene."

Witnesses say that they saw the incident happen as they were driving down Beecher Street.  The witnesses, which Cascade Patch is choosing not to name, "stated Christopher and Eric were sitting on the hood of a vehicle parked at the above address, when two juvenile black males approached them and began shooting. It was unclear how many shots they heard, however they believe it was 8 to 10 shots."

The witnesses describe the suspects as follows: "One of the males light skin, had dreads, wearing a white t-shirt and khaki pants. The other suspect was a brown skin male wearing a black shirt and dark pants."

APD reports to Cascade Patch that, "suspects were last seen by (witnesses) running north on Beecher St. towards Alvarado St."  They are both said to be armed and witnesses saw both holding black handguns and shooting.

There were multiple other witnesses along Beecher Street who describe the suspects in the same way.  One of the witnesses was able to somewhat identify one of the shooters and gave officers a lead to go on.
