Women Killed Inside Her Home During Robbery Attempt Outside

Police searching for suspect in fatal shooting of southwest Atlanta woman Friday

A woman was fatally shot late Friday afternoon after an apparent robbery attempt outside of an apartment complex in the 1900 block of Allison Court, according to Atlanta Police.

Police Sgt. Curtis Davenport said in an e-mail Saturday that police responded to a call at approximately 5:15 p.m. Friday at 1975 Allison Ct. in southwest Atlanta.

The shooting occurred after a robbery escalated into a shooting, said Atlanta Police Lt. Paul Guerrucci, commander of the department's homicide unit, according to a story in The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

"The victims boyfriend was struggling with a robber and there were shots fired," Davenport said in the e-mail communication. "One of the rounds struck the victim inside of her apt and she expired from her injury."

Family members identified the woman as Kenisha Carr, a mother, according to the AJC story.

Davenport said the investigation is continuing.
