Pet Education Day Saturday at Perkerson Park in Southwest Atlanta

Event seeks to provide a range of pet care services for busy pet owners.

Atlanta City Councilmember Joyce Sheperd and Fulton County Commissioner Joan Garner will host a "Pet Education Day" 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Perkerson Park, 770 Deckner Ave.

Residents can come out to the event and get pet information, have pets vaccinated, obtain routine pet checkups, and have their pets microchipped, according to an e-mail news release from the city.

“As a pet owner, I know that pets can become an important part of one’s family and of our community,” Councilmember Sheperd said.  “This event is a perfect opportunity to disseminate information to our communities about pet safety, vaccinations, resources, and more.”

“My pet is a member of my family and our community,” said Commissioner Garner. “Being a responsible pet owner is important and means more than feeding and housing.

Maintaining a healthy environment for our pets by keeping them safe, vaccinated, and registered makes our community safe.”
