Rep. John Lewis says, "There is a Deliberate, Systematic Attempt to Suppress the Vote" in this Election

John Lewis says there is currently a plan to suppress the minority vote all across the United States.

Rep. John Lewis, who is the United States Congressman from the 5th District of Georgia, partook in the Shrine of the Black Madonna's Candidate Forum over the past weekend.  The Honorable Congressman made news when he announced that he believes, "there is a deliberate, systematic attempt to suppress the vote (in this election)."

Rep. John Lewis, speaking in front of dozens of Southwest Atlanta supporters said that Republicans are, "trying to steal the election, even before it gets started."

State legislatures across our Union have introduced a variety of "Voter Law" bills which have come under scrutiny because of their limiting nature.  Some of the Voter Laws have been called a "Poll Tax" by civil rights leaders like John Lewis.

Even here in Atlanta, there have been cases where people have been purged from the qualified voter list for no good reason.  In one case, a whole senior citizen facility was purged because the government said that the building had been demolished, even though 100 or more people still lived in it.  They were subsequently reestablished on the voter roll.

Rep. John Lewis, who is running for reelection in the upcoming July 31st election, was adamant that we the People must fight this like he fought during the 1960's.  For John Lewis, the right to vote is "sacred," as he said.

Since there is little time left for voters to rectify changes and problems in the current laws, John Lewis' conclusion is that citizens need to get active and help those without approved ID's attain proper ID's so that they can vote in this ever so important upcoming election.  "If we don't, we will lose big time," he said.
