Eaves: State Redistricting Plan Not Good for Fulton County

Dear Cascade Patch:

The maps currently being considered by the state legislature do not show positive outcomes for anyone in Fulton County. As a county, if this redistricting passes, many of the legislative members are likely to reside outside of Fulton County boundaries.

In the next 10 years when the state gets to the negotiations table on important matters, I do not want our senators and representatives living outside of Fulton County.

 I would hope we all understand the importance of having a meaningful portion of our elected members of the General Assembly residing in Fulton County.

That is why I call on the General Assembly and the Governor to respectfully go back to the drawing board and help make more of Fulton’s districts what they should be—Fulton Districts.

I believe that when either party is given too much power they often serve their own interests and not those of the people. That is why I believe we should create a non-partisan committee to establish and draw lines that respect the interest of our community.
