Jobs Fair Today at Atlanta Technical College
Congressmen John Lewis and Hank Johnson expect thousands to attend the event hosted by The Congressional Black Caucus.
Thousands of residents and more than 80 employers are expected to attend a jobs fair on Thursday co-hosted by U.S. Reps. John Lewis and Hank Johnson and the Congressional Black Caucus.
Entitled the “For the People Jobs Initiative,” the event will be held from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Atlanta Technical College.
Lewis and Johnson will be joined by 10 other members of the black caucus, including Sanford Bishop Jr. (D-GA), Corrine Brown (D-FL), Donna Christensen (D-VI), Al Green (D-TX), Gregory Meeks (D-NY), Laura Richardson (D-CA), Cedric Richmond (D-LA), David Scott (D-GA), Ed Towns (D-NY)and Maxine Waters (D-CA).

According to the caucus, unemployment in African-American communities hovers around 16 percent, more than double the national rate in some cases, and is urging the passage of its more than 40 bills dealing with job creation.

The jobs fair will be held from 9 a.m. until to 5:30 p.m. Registration begins at 8 a.m. The town hall meeting will be held 6 to 8 p.m.
