Video: Highlights of Rep. Pat Gardner Press Conference; Denies 'Gay-Baiting' for House District 57

Rep. Pat Gardner visited Paschal's Restaurant to hold her first press luncheon on the campaign trail.

Rep. Pat Gardner is a democrat pitted against another fellow democrat in a race for the Georgia House Representative seat for District 57.  District 57 was redistricted by House Republicans, so that fellow incumbent Democrats would have to challenge each-other for a single seat.

Rep. Gardner held her scheduled press luncheon on Tuesday afternoon just hours after her opponent to ask Pat Gardner to "denounce", what he called "anti-gay" flyers that were supposedly distributed to certain Southwest Atlanta neighborhoods.

Rep. Gardner acknowledged the other campaign by responding to a GA Voice reporter's question about the issue.  She said, "I have had support from the gay community from the first day I ran...I think it is a bit of a stretch to say that I am the one doing the gay-baiting."  Rep. Gardner went on to say that she, "would never be a part of that. (talking about the flyer)"

Rep. Pat Gardner used most of her time at the press conference to talk about what makes her a good candidate, and what issues are most important to her such as fixing MARTA and delivering affordable healthcare.

Both candidates will have their chance to talk directly to Cascade Patch readers in the days ahead.  In the weeks ahead we will also hold an Online Forum with candidates, so that you can ask questions directly to the candidate.
