Rev. Jasper Williams Launches the "99 1/2 Won’t Do Project” to Mobilize Churches and Voters

Rev. Jasper Williams says 99 and a half is not enough, we need 100% voter participation.

On Aug. 24, 2012 at Salem Bible Church, Rev. Jasper Williams invited a number of Atlanta religious leaders to his church home as he launched the "99 1/2 Won't Do Project."

The project intends to help churches and non-profits organize themselves and have the resources and knowledge necessary to turn out 100 percent of the African-American vote in Georgia.

Rev. Williams sang the old church hymn, "99 and a Half Won't Do," to get the audience fired up and emotionally behind the message. Afterward, he gave a Power-Point presentation with details about the project, including rules about what non-profit organizations are allowed to do.

In addition, a number of statistics were distributed to the organizations, as well as information such as the fact that incarcerated individuals who have not been convicted of their accused crime are indeed eligible to vote.

The project's three objectives are: "Register Voters," "Educate Voters," and make sure "They Actually Vote."
