Will Maddux, Glavine Join Cox at HOF Induction Ceremony?

On Monday, the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y. announced that former Atlanta Braves manager Bobby Cox has been chosen for its 2014 class.

Cox managed the Braves from 1978 to 1981 before going to the Toronto Blue Jays, and then back to Atlanta again from 1990 until his retirement in 2010. His 2,504 wins is fourth all-time and he won a franchise-record 2,149 games with the Braves.

In 2012, Cox managed the "Future Stars" team in an exhibition game against the Atlanta Braves at Coolray Field in Lawrenceville. Here's a video from an interview with Lawrenceville Patch before that game.

During his 29 seasons, Cox lead his teams to 15 first-place finishes. Between 1991 and 2005, the Braves won 14 straight division titles, five National League pennants and the World Series in 1995.

Joining Cox in the class of 2014 are former managers Tony LaRussa and former Joe Torre, the latter who both played and managed the Braves before going on to win four world titles and six American League pennants as the manager of the New York Yankees from 1996-2007.

LaRussa won three world championships (two in St. Louis, one in Oakland) and his 2,728 wins is third-best in MLB history.

All three received 100 percent of the votes from the 16-member Expansion Era Committee, which includes another member of the Atlanta Braves family, Hall of Famer Phil Niekro. Cox, LaRussa and Torre will be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y. on Sunday, July 27, 2014.

Players selected for the Hall of Fame will be announced on January 8, 2014. Among those on the ballot for the first time are former Braves' greats and 300-game winners, Greg Maddux and Tom Glavine.

Do you think either or both pitchers will be joining their Atlanta skipper at the induction ceremonies next summer. Who was the better manager: Cox, LaRussa, or Torre? Let us know in the comments below.
