Your Guide to Area Farmers' Markets

The warm weather is now here to stay and that means area farmers' markets have begun to open. See our list of nearby markets in South Atlanta.

Spring is one of my favorite times of year.  Not just because the days are beginning to be longer and we can shed our coats and gloves, but because it means it's opening day for many of our area Farmers' Markets!

Farmers' Markets are an excellent source for fresh, locally grown and organic produce, fruits and vegetables. It's the place where you can casually stroll by vendors' stalls and tables to eye all of the freshest foods in season like strawberries, cucumbers, peaches and...am I making your mouths water yet?

For me as a mother, Farmers' markets also provide a great way to get my child involved in our family's meals by giving us a chance to talk to the growers and vendors about how and where the food is grown, and for me to inquire about new ways to cook a familiar food or how to prepare a never-before tasted one! My child is able to touch the fruits and vegetables that she will ultimately see on her plate. Many markets also will have fun activities for kids to participate in as well as cooking demonstrations!

If you're itching to get out and visit some nearby markets, here's a list of local Farmer's Markets in South Atlanta:
