Family Dollar apparently WILL BE coming to Cascade Rd @ Kimberly Rd

I am broadening my outreach for one last time in hope that some of you will act, before we see the lot being cleared for the construction of a Family Dollar in the Cascade Road Corridor – OVER THE PETROLEUM PIPELINE IN THAT LOT. What I don’t get is that although Atlanta residents in the city limits, down the road understood the impact on their community and property values, engaged the media, rose up and made Family Dollar change their mind, some of us in the Greater Cascade Community, who “think” we are more affluent, but in fact are no better as people, will apparently remain silent and just watch a Family Dollar be built at Cascade and Kimberly Road, and then I predict will complain after the fact and say well I won’t shop there.

Note that according to Fulton County Planning, that the project is already zoned commercial, is subject only to the Cascade Overlay regulations in force at the time in 2007, that the county cannot compel them to do a traffic study for a needed traffic signal -  even in light of the coming traffic from the Cascade Super Wal-Mart, and that there is not any legal requirement for any community notification of the issuance of a land disturbance permit, as construction starts on the Family Dollar at Cascade and Kimberly Road.   

In other words unless you persuade Family Dollar Corporate of your outrage and through an orchestrated media campaign convince them that they will lose money on this project and to change their mind, likely the next thing you will see - without any Fulton Commission or community zoning review, will then be the pushing of dirt as they start the construction of the store.

I continue to solicit elected and community leadership, as well as each individual on this email chain, to at a minimum take a moment and express your displeasure and outrage with the Family Dollar CEO Howard R. Levine at hlevine@familydollar.com or via their web form http://corporate.familydollar.com/pages/contactus.aspx. Click the link and complete the form to say that you don’t want Family Dollar to come here, and work with your governmental and community leadership, OR DON’T COMPLAIN AT ALL WHEN IT IS BUILT IN THE VERY NEAR FUTURE! 

I hope that no one is offended, but sometimes we need strong medicine whether we choose to take it or not……
