50th Anniversary of Desegregation of Atlanta Public Schools

"The Atlanta Nine" integrated four public high schools on Aug. 30, 1961.

On Aug. 30, 1961, nine African-Americans began the first day of school in the previously all-white Atlanta Public Schools system.

District 2 Candidate Dwanda Farmer hosted an event at Morris Brown College Tuesday evening to celebrate the occasion and reunite members of "The Atlanta Nine."
