APS Superintendent Finalists' Forum Wednesday

Only two candidates—one from Ohio and one from Maryland—remain.

The Atlanta Board of Education has scheduled a community meeting 6 to 8 p.m. Wed., June 29, for students, parents and other city residents to meet the finalists for APS superintendent.

The finalists are Cheryl L. Atkinson, Superintendent of the Lorain City Public Schools in Ohio, and Bonita Coleman-Potter, Deputy Superintendent of Prince George’s County Public Schools in Maryland. Barbara M. Jenkins, Deputy Superintendent of the Orange County Public Schools in Dloeis, withdrew from consideration earlier this week.

Earlier this week, Univesity of Georgia chancellor Erroll Davis agreed to delay retirement to serve as interim superintendent for the 48,000-student system until the position is filled.
