Cascade Valedictorian: Mays High's Jaye George

Mays High valedictorian spoke Wednesday evening at the Atlanta Civic Center.

On Wednesday, May 24, 2011, Jay George addressed the Benjamin E. Mays High School graduating class as its valedictorian.

Jaye is a Martin Luther King Scholar, an honor which affords him a full scholarship to Emory University in Atlanta.  He will begin his freshman year pursuing his interest in neuroscience.

The theme of Jaye's speech is "stand up and be counted."

Jaye would like to share the following excerpt from his speech at the Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center with Cascade Patch:

Much like the democratic system that encourages us to vote, we must be the catalysts for change. I charge the class of 2011 to improve the status quo. Give back to the community through servitude and camaraderie to your fellow man . . .
