Atlanta City Council President Ceasar C. Mitchell will hold his 13th semi-annual College Prep Series (CPS) November 10 from 8:00 a.m. – Noon. This series is being hosted by Atlanta Technical College, 1560 Metropolitan Pkwy, Atlanta, Georgia 30310.
The fall 2012 College Prep Series College Fair is November 20 from 6:00 – 8:30 p.m. at Atlanta City Hall, 55 Trinity Avenue, Atlanta, Georgia 30303.
The CPS offers students a free opportunity to be exposed to college entrance exams in a simulated testing environment. New this year, Council President Mitchell is partnering with The Princeton Review to administer the practice college entrance exams. Through the new partnership, students have an opportunity to take the PRA, an assessment that will help them determine whether they would test better on the ACT or the SAT. The format of the PSAT will remain the same.
The fall 2012 CPS College Fair offers exciting changes as well. In addition to the College Fair, participants will experience a full scores back session where they will hear from a college admissions guru. The guest speaker will explain how to read the scores back report and how students can use the report to lead them to their higher education goals. Students who plan to apply for Georgia’s public colleges and universities may apply for free during the November 20th College Fair. Representatives from The Scholarship Academy will be present to help guide them through their application process.
“We are excited about the upcoming enhancements to the College Prep Series,” said Mitchell. “By offering the PRA assessment, we hope to help students best prepare for their college admissions exams by focusing on the exam that best highlights their strengths.”
The College Prep Series is supported by The Princeton Review, The Southern Company, Atlanta Technical College, Hojeij Branded Foods, Georgia Beverage Association, The Scholarship Academy, the Atlanta-Fulton Public Library, Orange Business Services, and Hands on Atlanta.
“We are fortunate to have a number of sponsors and partners who help us accomplish the goals of the College Prep Series,” Mitchell added. “These fine organizations continue to make an investment in the future of our city –through supporting the educational development of its youth.”
