EMC2 Meeting on Mays Cluster Schools Today

"The recent AYP standings affirm what we already know-- that we have lots of work to do." —EMC2 meeting announcement

Organizers of a new booster organization for and its feeder schools will hold a general body meeting 10-11:15 a.m. Sat., Nov. 5, at the Southwest Branch Library, 3665 Cascade Rd, across from Starbucks.

On the agenda are parade results, Black History Month and SPLOST IV but the news Wednesday that Mays High and several of its feeder schools did not make AYP is sure to be a hot topic, as well as in the Nov. 8 election to fill the District 2 seat vacated by Khaatim Sherrer El.

"The recent AYP standings affirm what we already know-- that we have lots of work to do to ensure that our children are properly educated," Communications Coordinator Dr. Leslie Meyers-Joseph said in an e-mail news release Wednesday evening about the upcoming meeting.

1. Work with the cluster schools to improve communication between the schools , parents and the community at large.

2. Highlight the positives of the Mays High cluster schools, in order to
increase local support and use of our schools.

3. Work with parents and community members to address some of the
reasons (real or perceived) that cause students to bypass our
neighborhood schools.

In addition to Mays, EMC2 schools include , Harper-Archer Middle and the ten elementary schools that feed into those schools (see PDF for full list).

Organizers are asking supporters of Fain, Towns, Scott or Harper-Archer to contact them and consider attending the meeting because EMC2 currently does not have representation from those schools.
