Four Cascade Schools Have Achievement, Graduation Gaps

The Georgia Department of Education has named 156 schools that have achievement, graduation rate gaps.


Four Cascade schools have been named as "focus schools" by the Georgia Department of Education, meaning they have significant gaps in student achievement and overall graduation rates.

According to the AJC, , and are three of seven Atlanta public schools that made the list. , a Fulton County school, also made the list.

A "focus" label is a new designation being used by Georgia and other states that received a waiver from No Child Left Behind mandates.

Last week, , designated as "priority schools." They were Douglass High School; the Therrell schools of engineering, math and science, health and science, and law, government and public policy; and Booker T. Washington's schools of banking, finance and investment, and health, sciences and nutrition.
