Morehouse Grad Becomes First African-American to Head National PTA
Otha Thornton is a Morehouse College graduate.
Retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel and Georgia resident Otha Thornton is the new president of the National Parent Teacher Association, the first African-American to head the group, AJC.com reports.
Thornton, a Morehouse College graduate, is also a member of West End Church of Christ as well as Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., according to his bio on the National PTA website.
With the Georgia PTA, he was on the Board of Directors, serving as legislative chair, and was an Advisory Group member for Georgia's Partnership for Excellence in Education, the bio states.
