Local Athletes Take Part in National Signing Day

Today is the day that high school athletes can formally commit to college programs.

Today the lives of young high school athletes throughout the country will change, as high school students officially make announcements about who they are choosing to play their college ball with.

Atlanta Public Schools and its student-athletes held its annual APS Signing Day ceremony at Carver High School’s Leate Hall Auditorium on Wednesday morning.

  • Tri-Cities HS, Shamire DeVine – OL, 6' 7", 355 lbs.  Going to GA Tech.
  • Woodward Academy, Jameel Spence - LB. Going to GA State University
  • Grady HS, Darren Dowdell - TE. Going to E. Carolina
  • Grady HS, Dashawn Benton - Safety.  Going to E. Carolina
  • Grady HS, Kivon Taylor - Going to Univ. of Connecticut
  • Grady HS, Chazz Cooper - Going to Clark Atlanta Univ.
  • Carver HS, Delando Crooks - OT. Going to Vanderbilt
  • Brandon Watkins - Going to W. Virginia
  • Mays HS, DeAngelo Yancey - Going to Perdue
  • Mays HS, Wesley Clement - Baseball - Going to Paine College
  • North Atlanta, Amon-Ra Cla - Going to Virginia Military Insitute
