Meet Lisa Jamison, Atlanta Public School's Social Worker of the Year

Career goes back more than 20 years.

Atlanta Public Schools has named Booker T. Washington High School social worker Lisa Jamison 2014 School Social Worker of the year. 

As part National School Social Work Month, Jamison was recognized during an event for school social workers hosted by APS’ Office of Student Support Services.

"We honor and thank all APS social workers who are vital to helping students achieve academic success,"APS Coordinator of School Social Work Services Denise Revels said in a news release.

Jamison's social work career began more than 20 years ago.

"I salute all school social workers because we are all unsung heroes," said Jamison. "What I love about my job is seeing a twinkle in a student's eye. That lets me know I have helped that student with something they needed to be successful both inside and outside of the classroom."
