The Rev. Howard Creecy has passed away. I knew him well.
We first met on the Jesse Spikes For Mayor campaign. We were trying to solicit his support and, unlike many of the other pastor, he was honest about not supporng us. Others asked for money and then said nothing in terms of vocal support.
I then met Rev. Creecy on a supreme court race and this time he was supportive and rallied other pastor to our campaign. We lost but my talks with him were straightforward and honest.

He always struck me as a true Man of the Almighty and not a Man of the Almight Dollar. Then as a guest host of Newsmakers Live, I interviewed the Executive Director of SCLC and really dug in and took a line of questioning that was extremely critical of the SCLC.
As many of you know, I am critical of all present-day civil rights organizations. As Marcus Garvey said "Race men are the biggest crooks of the Black Community."

But after my grilling of Attorney Marianne Parker, executive director of SCLC, Rev. Creecy came up to me with a look in his eye. I thought I was getting knocked out. But instead he said to me "I want people like you to help us. People who can see us for what we should be and not what we were."
It was then that I realized that maybe just maybe the SCLC was going to be different. Well, now he is gone. He is with Martin, Ralph and the crew. Say hello and we shall see you soon.
The good news is that this opens the door for Isaac Farris. According to Maynard Eaton who worked with Rev. Creecy and who was the last person to see Rev. Creecy alive, Rev. Creecy would always say that he was holding down the fort until Isaac Farris could come and do what Bernice King would not do.
Rev. Creecy would often say that isaac was the smartest of the King family. ( A contention I would wholeheartedly agree with). Well, Isaac, your time is now.
No more dilly dallying with the easy job of running the King Center. it is time for you to take on the tough job of rebuilding and restoring the SCLC. If it's worth anything, you have my help.
RIP Rev. Creecy and may God bless your soul.
