Broken Water Main Shuts Down Portion of Collier Drive Near Linkwood Road NW

Water creates a 5 foot sinkhole in NW Atlanta

According to the Atlanta Watershed, families in NW Atlanta near Adamsville Recreation Center and Linkwood Road, woke up to a river of water Monday morning along Collier Drive.

Atlanta Watershed says, "crews will be performing emergency repair work, and the specified portion of Collier Drive is closed as a precaution. Water service is interrupted until the repair is complete. Motorists are urged to use caution and to avoid the area if possible."

Collier Drive NW between Valley Heart Drive and Chalmers Drive is currently closed due to a sinkhole that was created from a broken water main pipe.  Crews said that water flowed underneath the road creating a 5-foot wide sinkhole and damaging the road in some areas.
