<p>Frederick Douglass High School, the largest school in the  Atlanta Public Schools system, opened Sept. 3, 1968.</p>
<p>According to <a href="http://www.atlanta.k12.ga.us/domain/3081">a school profile on the APS website</a>, over the past thirty-eight years, the community and school have changed considerably.</p> <p>The school's population was composed of students who came from the immediate community of middle and upper-middle class families, the profile states.</p> <p>Douglass is now considered an inner-city school, located in a neighborhood comprised of single and multi-family dwellings.</p> <ul> </ul> <ul> </ul> <ul> </ul> <p>The present Douglass High School student population consists of students who were enrolled in the area feeder schools, students whose families have recently moved into the neighborhood, and students outside the Douglass' zoned are who are attracted to one of Douglass' four theme schools: 1) Center for Business and Entrepreneurship (BE); 2) Center for Communication and Journalism (CJ); 3) Center for Engineering and Applied Technology (CFEAT); and, 4) Center for Hospitality, Travel and Marketing (HTM).</p> <p>Douglass is located on the edge of Cascade Patch's northern boundary at 225 Hamilton E. Holmes Dr.</p>
