Lioniel Hampton Trail
Named for jazz musician Lionel Hampton, who donated land for the site, the Lionel Hampton Trail is part of the PATH Foundation's system of Atlanta and Dekalb-area trails. The Lionel Hampton trail runs from a point just south of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and east of Peyton Road to Willis Mill Road, behind Hoosier United Methodist Church. The section near MLK includes a full playground, adult workout stations, picnic table and benches.
- What makes this community special?: The Lionel Hampton Trail is part of PATH. According to PATH officials, the organization developed over 160 miles of trail throughout northern Georgia in just 15 years.More trails are planned for the region.
- Are there any interesting facts about this location?: Lionel Hampton was born in Kentucky in 1908 and, at the age of 94, died in New York City in 2002. He played several instruments and performed blues, swing, jazz and Big Band music.
