Daniel McLaughlin Therrell High School is one of 10 high schools in the Atlanta Public Schools system. The school's motto is "You Can't Hide That Panther Pride," the colors are red and black and the mascot is the panther. After several decades as a landmark southside high school, Therrell reopened in 2007 as three smaller specialty schools: Therrell School of Law, Government & Public Policy; Therrell School of Health Sciences & Research and Therrell School for Technology, Engineering, Math & Science.
In addition, the school is undergoing a $36 million capital improvement plan in 2010-2011 that includes the construction of a three-floor classroom building, gymnasium and media center as well as more than a dozen major building upgrades and renovations.
