SW Atlanta Community Disturbed that Fire Station Closed with No Warning

Fire Station 14 at Lee Street and Avon temporarily closed.

At the most recent NPU-T meeting the Fire Department representative seemed to "break the news" to local residents that Fire Station 14 was temporarily closed, and its truck would be operating out of Station 17 for the meantime. "As you may have heard in the news, Station 14 is temporarily closed," the representative said. He was referring to a WSB-TV report that came out a few days ago that featured 2 community members that said they were disturbed that there was no communication before the closure.  According to the report, printed signs showed up on the door one day and said they were temporarily closed. UPDATED: Cause Of Perry Studio Fire Still Unknown

Investigators are still determining the cause of the blaze.

Fire investigators are still determining the cause of Tuesday night's four-alarm blaze at Tyler Perry's southwest Atlanta studio. As of Wednesday morning, Atlanta fire personnel remained on the scene of the incident, checking for any hot spots that remain from the fire, according to The Atlanta Journal Constutition. Dozens of firefighters contained the blaze to one building in the center of the 30-acre complex, the paper said. Perry built the 200,000-square-foot studio on Contintental Colony Parkway in southwest Atlanta in 2008, CBSAtlanta reported. The station said that the first 911 call about the fire came in at 8:41 p.m. The blaze was extinguished in about an hour. Firefighters upgraded the incident to a four-alarm fire when they saw …
