Juvenile arrested following mobile phone robbery attempt.
MECHANICSVILLE — Crimes are usually a matter of opportunity and luck. By that measure, someone should have told a young teen attempting to steal multiple mobile phones from pedestrians in front of police doesn't qualify as an opportune time. But that's exactly what police said occurred Monday night during regular patrols. Atlanta Police Department officers from Zone 3, on routine patrol, saw a fracas unfolding around 10 p.m. at Formwalt Park, just off Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard SW and Formwalt Street SW. Jabarri Ash, 36, is charged with felony murder.
Atlanta police have arrested a man for the Feb. 21 shooting death of Mario Durrell Shaw, 32. Jabarri Ash, 36, was arrested April 4 and charged with felony murder. He remains in the Fulton County Jail. Shaw's roommate found him dead in the dining room of their home at the Hidden Village Apartments at 3041 Landrum Drive. Shaw was shot at least twice, with one bullet wound to the head and the other to his torso. Ash, who has been arrested before, was last in jail on aggravated assault charges. He was released March 30.

Six people arrested.
Atlanta police seized scores of counterfeit merchandise Friday from six booths at the West End Market. In all, the fake goods which included True Religion branded clothes, Louis Vuitton handbags, music CDs and DVDs are valued at $5 million, and police seized several thousand dollars in American currency at the raid at the market, which is located 844 Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard. Six people suspected of committing carjackings in and around Atlanta have been arrested. Police say the group is linked to crimes including two carjackings in East Atlanta and one in Cabbagetown.
Atlanta Police announced Friday that they had arrested six suspected carjackers and charged them in a string of incidents across the city and neighboring communities. "These are significant arrests, because carjacking is a violent crime that often leads to even more dangerous crimes," said Lt. Paul Guerrucci. "Getting these men off the streets will make Atlanta, and the metro area, a safer place, without question." Police were cautious about releasing details."This is an active investigation," Guerrucci said. Officials said the suspects are responsible for at least six carjackings, and all of the vehicles have been recovered at this point. The man was found wounded in a house on Epworth Street.
Atlanta police said a man died Tuesday morning from a gunshot wound. Police spokeswoman Kim Jones said police were called to 1383 Epworth St. about 9:15 a.m. Tuesday and found a man with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was taken to Grady Medical Center, where he died. Witnesses told police the man argued with another man outside the house when the other man pulled and gun and shot, Jones said. No arrests have been made and police have not named the victim.

The Atlanta Police Department is seeking the public's help in identifying two men who robbed the Eden's Beauty Supply store at 122 Cleveland Ave. in the Swallow Circle-Baywood community. The Oct. 30 incident was captured on store surveillance cameras and investigators are asking for help in identifying the men seen on video. Anyone with information on these suspects is asked to call the Atlanta Police Commercial Robbery Unit at 404.546.4255 or Crime Stoppers at 404.577.8477. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $2000.

The Atlanta Police continue to push the 'See Something, Say Something' initiative to community members. I have heard the pitch plenty at various neighborhood meetings, but the Zone 4 Supervisor in this video was the first person to pitch the initiative effortlessly while alleviating people's most basic fears about calling the police. UPDATE: It is being reported by the AJC that Jacqueline Culp, who was driving the BMW has died in the hospital due to her injuries she sustained after a police cruiser slammed into her car. Jacqueline Culp, 59, of Atlanta, died of injuries she received in the wreck that happened just before 5 p.m. Saturday at Cascade and Fairburn roads. Police said an APD cruiser driven by officer Joshua Sieck was traveling west on Cascade Road responding to a call for assistance when it collided with a BMW driven by Culp who was traveling south on Fairburn Road. No one was injured in the gunfight.
An Atlanta police officer exchanged gunshots with a suspect attempting to flee from a routine traffic stop early Saturday morning. No was injured and the suspects are in custody, Atlanta police said. At around 12:30 a.m. Saturday an officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver of the vehicle fled. Police say the driver and two passengers abandoned the vehicle near Mayland Circle and University Avenue and fled on foot. At this time, police believe one of the passengers fired several shots at the officer who returned fire. Police ultimately apprehended the driver and the passengers, one of whom police believe was the shooter. The man thought to be the shooter has several outstanding warrants, said police.
