Bryant, the Atlanta police officer in charge of police services in the zone that serves much of southwest Atlanta, spoke to Cascade Patch recently about public safety in 2012.
Just over a month ago, the Atlanta Police Department began serving new zone boundaries for the city. Atlanta Police Department Zone 4, which covers most of southwest Atlanta, is now divided into four instead of two beats. The Atlanta police department began to discuss re-structuring the police beats last year and held several public hearings to give residents a chance to voice concerns and opinions. The decision to move certain areas into new zones was based on call volume and reported crimes in each area.
