I worked for several years at Bunche Middle School. Kudos to the current students and staff. Bunche has a rich history. The late Dr. A.G. Jones, Jr. (the first principal there), would be extremely proud that the school's tradition of excellence continues.   more ›

Bunche Middle School Teacher Wins District Excellence in Education Award

Language arts teacher Naja Freeman is one of 11 educators honored for commitment to student success.

Last Tuesday morning, Naja Freeman began preparing for what her principal said was a classroom observation by SACS school officials. Indeed, the small crowd had gathered to congratulate Freeman, a 7th and 8th grade language arts teacher at Bunche Middle School, for winning the 2011 Atlanta Families Award for Excellence in Education.  The awards were created in 2006 to honor Atlanta Public Schools (APS) teachers and school leaders who demonstrate excellence in …

As a nearly 20 year veteran in residential real estate sales, I am amazed each time I look for homes recently placed for sale. The prices are simply unbelievable and anyone who can take advantage of buying now should do so.   If a purchase is made and closed before the end of December you can take advantage of homestead exemption on property taxes in 2012. Homestead exemption gives owner occupants a discount on property taxes which go into effect the year immediately following the year of purchase.   For purchases made after December 31st, buyers will have to wait for 2013 to take advantage of the major discount. Taking advantage of the tax exemption as an owner will adjust the taxes appropriately to reflect the ownership status.  This is …
