Truly Living Well Urban Farm re-opens its East Point location.
Sporting the theme, "Connecting Community with the Earth," the Truly Living Well Urban Farm celebrated a week-long schedule of events to reopen its East Point location. All activities are free and open to the public. Friday is the last day of events. "Grow" takes place from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. See what's growing at East Point. Tour our beautiful garden with one of our TLW farmers! If you are interested in starting a garden or yielding more and healthy produce from your own garden, this is an excellent tour for you! Residents can visit the farm located at 3353 Washington Road. Produce can be purchased every Wednesday from 2-7 p.m. SNAP and WIC recipients get $2 of food for every $1 spent. Fulton Fresh launches another season of delivering fresh fruits and vegetables directly to communities that need them the most.
The Fulton County Cooperative Extension launched another season of their Fulton Fresh Mobile Farmer's Market this week, and celebrated the addition of another bus to help with more routes. The Fulton Fresh program provides access to fresh vegetables and nutrition education in communities designated as food deserts. “We are pleased that we could expand the Fulton Fresh program to reach 13 communities versus the 4 communities served in our first season,” stated Menia Chester, Director of Fulton County Cooperative Extension. “Being able to provide access to fresh produce in communities not serviced by a major grocery store chain is important in our efforts to address health disparities in these neighborhoods.” Here is a Food Desert Locator…

10:00am on Wednesday, June 13, Fulton County Cooperative Extension will unveil its’ second Farmer's Market mobile unit.
On Wednesday, June 13, 2012, Fulton County Cooperative Extension kicks-off its second season and will roll-out two mobile units to expand the service areas of the Fulton Fresh Mobile Farmer’s Market program. Mobile unit stops will be announced at the kick-off which will take place at 10:00 am at The Shrine of the Black Madonna located at 946 Ralph David Abernathy Blvd., Atlanta, GA 30310. The Fulton Fresh Mobile Farmer’s Market 2012 Season will run from June 13 until September 12. The addition of a second mobile unit allows Cooperative Extension to assist more residents with making healthier choices to live healthier lives.
