'Homecoming' Exhibition at Hammonds House Ending Soon

The exhibit features photographs, on loan from the Auburn Avenue Research Library, from as far back as the 1860s.

"Homecoming: African American Family History in Georgia" ends May 5 at Hammonds House Museum. The exhibit "documents and pays homage to an incredible achievement – the survival of kinship ties and family pride among black people through the horrific experience of slavery," Hammonds House writes on its website. "Up until 1978 when the project that collected these photographs was launched, there had been relatively little research on the African American family."

I called yesterday and was told all tours were pretty much booked already. We were able to get in the Utoy Creek tour so I would suggest calling the venue itself instead of the preservation center. They tried to sell me a membership for NEXT year. Lol   more ›
