Kroger reopens Metropolitan Pkwy store in style.

Frank L. Stanton and Beecher Hills elementary schools have each won $1,500 in grants from Kroger. Kroger’s Atlanta Division – which includes Georgia, South Carolina, eastern Tennessee and northern Alabama – is donating a total of $12,500 in grants to nine Atlanta-area schools as part of its “Earning Plus Learning” program. The annual contest invited schools across the Division to creatively demonstrate how they promoted the 2011-2012 theme, “Healthy Living,” within their communities. The Earning Plus Learning entries took the form of scrapbooks, photos, videos, essays, news clippings and more. Drivers in Georgia are experiencing a 3 cent hike in gas prices this week, due to the state's automatic gas tax that went into effect this past Sunday. According to Monday's Georgia Public Broadcasting News, "A check on gas prices this morning according to the AAA Fuel Gauge Report shows the average for a gallon of regular unleaded is $3.84. With New Year's around the corner, catching the flu bug can put a serious damper on holiday plans. And though the 2010 flu season is much better than the scare of 2009's H1N1, it is a good idea to consider getting the flu vaccination as the 2011 winter months settle in. "I think the flu shot is a must during this time of year, I have been getting mine for the past several years and encourage my family to do so as well," says Walvella Bell-King of Fulton County Health and Wellness.
