Betsegaw Tadele impressed the family and students in attendance at the 129th Morehouse commencement.
Meet Betsegaw Tadele. He is the 2013 Morehouse College Valedictorian, and has the added distinction of being one of only a few people to speak on the same stage as the President of the United States. President Obama gave Morehouse's 129th Commencement speech to thousands of family members, alumni, faculty and students on May 20th. Being the great orator that he is, the President gave a very well received speech speaking about responsibility and giving-back to others who are less fortunate. Betsegaw, the school's valedictorian, also gave a great speech that received a thunderous applause. Betsegaw was a Computer Science major, and is on his way to begin working with Microsoft. During a rainy Sunday, May 19th in Atlanta, Georgia the President of the United States spoke at Morehouse's graduation.

President Barack Obama gave the 129th commencement address speech on a wet and rainy Sunday afternoon, May 19th, at Morehouse College. Obama began his remarks to an excited yet wet crowd,most of whom had been seated as early as 6 am. at approximately 11:30 am. The sky opened just before the speech began, and the crowd was treated to a steady downpour throughout. Obama quipped that, “I would be out there with you, but the Secret Service gets nervous.” Obama was greeted with a big cheer when he emerged from a building adjacent to the stage with Morehouse College president John Silvanus Wilson, a former White House aide. In just a matter of days, Morehouse College will host the President of the United States.
President Barack Obama will grace the Morehouse College commencement stage on Sunday afternoon, May 19, 2013, in-front of thousands of hardworking graduating students and their families. The 129th Commencement exercises at Morehouse College will take place - rain or shine - on the Century Campus (the yard between Graves Hall and Harkness Hall). This is probably the most anticipated visit that the AUC has seen in over 100 years, but its important to point out that First Lady Obama speaking at Spelman College comes in as a very close second. Father and son Dorian Joyner, Sr. and Dorian Joyner, Jr. are both graduating from Morehouse College this year. In a recently-posted Youtube video (attached to this article) each Joyner briefly discusses his individual school experiences and future plans. It's the elder Joyner's second Morehouse experience, having first come to the school in 1984 through 1988.

On Friday, April 19, prominent leaders in Atlanta are meeting at a Microsoft YouthSpark Connection event at Morehouse College to discuss the opportunity divide in Atlanta, and what can be done to better meet the demands of the labor market through education. U.S. president to be commencement speaker.
President Barack H. Obama is scheduled to give the commencement speech at Morehouse College this spring. The nation's 44th president will address the graduating class of 2013 during the May 19 ceremonies, CBS Atlanta 46 reported. Morehouse College President John Silvanus Wilson Jr. announced the president's visit at the school's A Candle in the Dark Gala on Saturday night. The gala, held during Founder's Week, is a major fundraising event for the historically black men's liberal arts college, which was founded in 1867. Last year, Obama was the commencement speaker at Barnard College in New York.

Morehouse College student listed in stable condition after being shot in the arm during a Friday afternoon on-campus basketball game dispute.
Update: 9 p.m. 2/3/13 Clark Atlanta University student Amir Obafemi, 22, was arrested Saturday and charged with felony aggravated assault and carrying a concealed weapon in connection with Friday’s basketball pick-up game shooting on the Morehouse College campus. Several news outlets reported the arrest by the Morehouse Police Department of Obafemi, who was booked on $2,000 bond in the Fulton County Jail. WSB TV reported that the victim, who was shot in the forearm and is expected to make a full recovery, has been identified as Morehouse student Cornileus Savage.
