Cascade Patch Celebrates 1st Anniversary, Looks to Future

Local business owners, community advocates, journalists and supporters celebrate Cascade Patch's first year as an daily news website serving greater southwest Atlanta.

The staff and correspondents of Cascade Patch celebrated the first anniversary of the daily community news website's launch Tuesday evening at Wine Styles Cascade. The event included door prizes; greetings from Patch sales manager Chris Harper and Attorney Marvin Arrington, Jr., of Arrington & Phillips, LLP; and news from the new southwest Atlanta parents group, EMC2, of a 2012 community screening of the classic documentary "Eyes on The Prize." EMC2 also shared plans for a series of interviews early next year with long-time southwest Atlantans who lived through the tumultuous 1960s era Civil Rights Movement. It was a great event at a wonderful venue. i met for the 1st time our advertizer and businesses that support us and those that we cover. I can't wait to see the Christmas parade. Our First Year

Patch 1st Anniversary Celebration 5:30 to 7 p.m. Today

Cascade Patch readers are invited to celebrate the 1st Anniversary Celebration and Holiday Party for Cascade Patch from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, at Wine Styles Cascade.

Cascade Patch will celebrate its first anniversary later today at Wine Styles Cascade with door prizes, words from District 10 Councilman C.T. Martin and a surprise community announcement by the Mays High and cluster schools support group EMC2. The free event is 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Wine Styles, 3752 Cascade Rd. Though it is not a requirement, all guests are strongly encouraged to buy a bottle of wine to support the youth in our community. Wine Styles has agreed to donate 10 percent of all proceeds to EMC2. In addition to Councilman Martin and EMC2, confirmed program guests include the law firm of Arringtron & Phillips, LLP, and the owners of Landon's Restaurant & Bar, 3752 Cascade Rd. Celebrities, entertainers, political and social justice leaders from Atlanta and across the country converged at Atlanta Symphony Hall Sunday night to celebrate the 90th birthday of Cascade Heights civil rights legend Rev. Dr. Joseph E. Lowery.

Cascade UMC will present a check of $22,000 to Morris Brown College president Stanley Pritchett Sunday.

Curtis Bunn’s most recent novel, “A Cold Piece of Work” is a well-written story of a man who avoids committed relationships. The story explores whether this type of man can be redeemed, changed and have a healthy love relationship.
