Photos: Perkerson Park opens Brand New Splash Pad in time for Summer

Local children tested the new Perkerson Park Splash Pad which opened Saturday afternoon.

When the Atlanta Beltine, investors, and city officials cut the ribbon on the new Perkerson Park Splash Pad, they knew that the ultimate judgement of the project would come from the local kids in the area.  The pictures, taken by Jenny Pittam, say a thousand words...  The Splash Pad is a Hit!!!  This past Saturday afternoon hundreds of residents from across southwest Atlanta attended the Grand Opening which included games for children, music, food, and Italian ices. “We are pleased to add another beautiful amenity to our area," said Atlanta City Councilmember Joyce M. Sheperd. "The splash pad project has received such positive support from members of the community. I am delighted to partner with the Atlanta BeltLine on this initiative.” …

Perkerson Park Welcomes a Brand-New Splash Pad this Weekend

The Atlanta Beltline unveils Perkerson Park's new Splash Pad on Saturday.

Atlanta BeltLine officials, this time with the help of Atlanta City Councilmember Joyce M. Sheperd, open another city park splash pad for children to play in during the hot summers.  Perkerson Park which is a, "50-acre greenspace nestled in the residential neighborhood of Capitol View." will celebrate this grand opening for its splash pad with hundreds or residents, city officials, jazz music, and games for kids on Saturday afternoon. Funding for the splash pad came from the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation through the Department of Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Affairs. “Perkerson Park is another jewel on the Emerald Necklace that is the Atlanta Beltline,” said Arthur M. Therrell High Graduates from 1960s to 2000s Reunited Saturday at Picnic

Graduates from 1960s to 2000s come together for Panther memories at Perkerson Park.

Alumni from classes ranging from 1971 to 2011 of Therrell High School came together Saturday for a reuion picnic at Perkerson Park. According to graduate Cheryle Moses, Class of 1975, this was the first ever reunion of this kind and they promise this will be an annual celebration. Therrell High Alumni Picnic Saturday

Events ranging from bid whist games to potato sack races for graduates of one of southwest Atlanta's landmark high schools.

It's class reunion time again for graduates of D.M. Therrell High School. Therrell High Alumni Association is hosting a reunion picnic from noon to 8 p.m. Sat., July 30, at Perkerson Park, 770 Deckner Ave. Organizers are asking alumni from all years to get your tailgate gear together and head over to Perkerson for a day of food, fun, drinks, games, music and reconnecting. Bring your grills, picnic, coolers, chairs, music, and class signs. The day will include class contests with prizes: potato sack races, horse shoes, basketball, "THS Class Feud," Spades Tournament, Bid Whiz Tournament, ...Dominoes, Chess, and more.
